Where Did It Come From?

As the use of pesticides for crop protection became increasingly popular during the ‘50s and ‘60s, technological advancements made way for the backpack crop duster. Powered by gasoline, the heavy pressure of the duster dispersed pesticides at a high rate. Soon it was discovered that an empty backpack crop duster also could blow away excess foliage and leaves. Backpack crop duster manufacturers quickly expanded operations to begin manufacturing power leaf blowers. 

Once in full production, backpack power blowers became a yardwork staple in households across America, not only to save time and energy, but water and money as well. Instead of cleaning off driveways and patios with water hoses, homeowners could now just blow their troubles away. 

How Do They Work?

Corded and battery-based electric leaf blowers are much quieter and lighter compared to their gas-powered predecessors. Using a motor and fan, the fan blades bring in and spin outside air, creating a centrifugal force within the blower. That centrifugal force creates the necessary pressure and pushes the air through the tube of the blower at extreme speeds.
